'Live Fridays' @ Buddy's
Friday night, Buddy's in Newtown turns into the ultimate hub for live, original music
If Miya Zawa isn't on your radar yet, now's the time to fix that. Since her debut single "So Sick" dropped in March 2025, she's earned support from triple j Unearthed, Spotify, Apple Music, US college radio, and a string of blogs with genuine taste. She's played Dragon Dreaming, Dulwich Hill Festival, and Woodford Folk Festival, so this isn't a bedroom-producer-who-never-leaves-the-bedroom situation, even though the bedroom-studio energy is very much part of the appeal.
Her mixtape 8 Diary Entries was written across Sydney, Tokyo, Canberra, and Wagga, shaped by her Japanese-Australian heritage, and it's the kind of project you end up obsessed with before you can explain why: confessional, cinematic, and completely her own. She's about to release 'Headphones' - on July 28.
It's giving the same club-brained, overstimulated-but-somehow-still-chill energy as Charli XCX's brat, if brat decided to stay in and stare at the ceiling instead of going out. See you on tour x
